ABOUT US

Culpeper United Methodist Church Preschool is committed to providing the best possible environment for nurturing young children. We encourage each individual child by placing equal emphasis on physical, social, emotional, creative, intellectual and spiritual development.  We offer rich and varied active learning opportunities, guided by warm, self-awareness and overall competence.

Our school was established as a non-profit organization.  We are a religiously based school; and as such, we are exempt from state licensing. However, we are monitored by the state and must meet and document the required guidelines set forth by the state and implement their recognized health, safety and staffing requirements. All Lead Teachers and the Director currently hold Early Childhood Teaching Credentials from Christian Child Development Education (CCDE) through the Child Development Education Alliance (CDEA).  We are current members of the  Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE) and Association of Christian School International (ACSI).

We have a wonderful staff of dedicated and wellt trained educators. Our staff is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Medication Administration (MAT) trained and certified. Our staff is also required to participate in continuing education classes.

Our school can reach a maximum enrollment of 30 students.  We offer preschool classes for children ages three and four.  There is a maximum enrollment of 12 students in our 3 year old class and a maximum enrollment of 18 students in our 4 year old class.  Our preschool program runs from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, with the option to add an Extended Care program with the hours ranging from 7AM – 9:00AM and 12PM- 5:30PM.

We use the A Beka phonics and writing curriculum with our three and four-year-olds.  In addition, we supplement A Beka with The Learning Box Preschool curriculum, which allows a very balanced approach to our preschool learning experience. As a Christian based preschool, we use A Beka Weekly Bible lessons and attend Chapel each week with our Chapel pastors.  In addition, we attend a monthly  music and movement class with our church Music Director.  We have a fenced playground and an inside playroom for daily recess.

CUMC Preschool follows religious exempt guidelines set by the Department of Social Services and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin or religion. We admit well, ambulatory children whose health and abilities allow them to participate in all activities during the normal classroom day.
