Waiting for the Promise

Updated: Aug 1, 2019

The time in between is never wasted!

So here we are. Waiting. One of those things I daresay we would rather not do. And while we wait, there is this, shall we call it, anxiety, in our heart, wondering how everything will shake out?

Lauren's sermons this past Sunday and coming up this Sunday are timely and just what our souls need as we look to God's plan for our church. God has been faithful to us in the past, and He will be faithful in the future. Our souls pause at this truth. And this season for our church is a test. Will we prove faithful? Tests are not always pass or fail. They serve to grow us in character, preparing us for what is to come. God wants us to be ready to greet our new pastor. This time in between is never wasted. We will never be in this exact space and time again. We need to use the time well. And sometimes, we can even thrive while we wait as we learn to steward what God has given and be content with the portion that He has provided.

We are not the first church to go through a transition and certainly will not be the last, but this fact does not necessarily make the waiting any easier, right? And here we are, just a little over a week away from having Pastor John and his sweet family here with us at Culpeper UMC. How will we use the time in between? Below are some ideas. Feel free to comment and share some of yours, too.

· Pray for our pastor and his family during this transition.

· Pray for our church.

· Pray for our former pastor and his wife during this transition.

· Write a note of encouragement to both pastors.

· Find a way to bless your church or our pastor as they prepare to come.

· Count it all joy!
