GO

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19

Chosen for a Purpose

This Scripture is referred to as the "Great Commission". We were chosen for this purpose. We are to love and honor God by telling all nations about the love of God. Based on this “Great Commission,” our United Methodist Church purpose is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

As members of this congregation, we serve those in need in our community to make our community more loving and just. Visit our Missions Page to see how we serve and have an impact our community.

 How can You Serve?

Each day abounds with opportunities to serve. You can minister with your family as you inquire about one another’s lives, as you listen and respond with care. You take time to listen to a friend in need and respond. You can minister at work. You can minister in your neighborhood when you hear of a need or a crisis, or see an opportunity to share God’s love. It may be with someone across town, someone of another racial or economic group, a person with a disability, or a person of another nation or culture.  You can take the time to call, to visit, to write, and to ask “How can I help?”

Many needs are best met by joining forces with others. Take part in community groups that are trying to serve human need or trying to change social forces that cause suffering.  Give your time, your energy, and your money. Through your support and contributions, you can participate in the far-flung ministries of The United Methodist Church—in the Charlottesville District and Virginia Annual Conference, across the country and around the world.
